Someone who is DOING something

Yesterday I mentioned Clay Walker and his Bike team "Band Against MS".  What I didn't mention was that Clay isn't just some celebrity trying to do something for a good cause.  He is a celebrity that has been reduced to "normal" by Multiple Sclerosis and is trying to do something for HIS cause.

Now typically I'm the type of person that would rather hear about the every day people, because I think they are the true Heroes of the disease.  However, growing up during Clay Walker's rise in stardom has made me really appreciate his candidness and humility when it comes to speaking about his disease and living with it.  Even though he can afford all the right doctors and the best treatments, he continues to show that he struggles with the affects of MS just like everyone else.  He has spoken about how it affects his family, his home life and his work, which just happens to be performing in front of thousands of people.

I also appreciate his efforts, in his words, to "DO something about it".  That "it" he speaks of is finding a cure.  So he set up his non profit foundation BAMS to do just that.  Take a look at the website (click on the picture).  I thought it was pretty cool! There is tons of information about events and a bunch of general MS info.

Also as a side note: I don't think my mom or I or anyone else with half a brain and some connection to MS has any problem with MS having a very VERY cute spokesperson like Clay Walker.  I mean he can come sing me a song and tell me about MS anytime.  :)  On his website there was something mentioned about getting a signed guitar.  I'm going to figure out how to make that happen!

I didn't know he had MS. His daughter goes to school with my brother.
