Fireworks!

I'm counting down until the 4th.  It is possibly one of my favorite holidays! I love seeing friends and family and watching fireworks and having fun all in honor of being American! This year it also will mean that I'm reunited with hubby after two weeks of training.  I have only seen him 2.5 days in the past 5 weeks!

I'm so proud of my 2nd Lt. He is such a great leader.  I know his hard work will pay off.

I'll update on jobs later this weekend! Off to get a new phone! Yay!

PCR2 ♥'s PCR1

I love you Dad! I'm sorry I couldn't be there to see you this weekend. I guess it's a sign you did a good job raising me... since I'm off living on my own and working and grown up and all that stuff.

Thanks for always being my biggest cheerleader... yelling at me when I need/needed it... letting me yell at you when you need it... teaching me to have opinions and use them... and giving me at least 4 life mottos.

Happy Father's Day!

3 days

I had three days with my husband this week.  Naturally I want to drop everything when this happens.  This time I couldn't.  We survived though.

I saw my first home health client this week.  He is adorably sweet. They have a menagerie of birds and dogs at their house.  I had to do therapy yesterday with a pair of 6 week old basset hounds in my lap.  The kids wouldn't talk while they were holding them.  So I took them... they fell right to sleep as soon as they hit my lap so it worked out.

I also saw several of kids at Bliss! My supervisor seems to really be impressed with me this week.  Which is always good.  I've been working my butt off spending time up there, being flexible, thinking of therapy ideas.  Oh my goodness the therapy ideas.  I literally dreamed about one of my clients all night long.  And rightfully so.  I barely survived my first session with him.  The second session was EVEN WORSE.  A 3.5 year old in an hour long therapy session that he doesn't feel like being there for is never a good combination.  By the end of our second session he was laying on the floor, sucking his thumb, and asking for his mommy.... and I SERIOUSLY considered joining him.  This week should be interesting.  I am basically going to have to bring the entire materials room into the therapy room with me. He burns through activities like he breathes oxygen.  We did everything I brought in last time TWICE and still had time to roll around on the ground for 15 minutes. Oh well.  I vow to be ready for 6 hours worth of activities next week.

It was great seeing William for a few days. But it seems like we just got all the business part of our marriage caught up and he had to leave before we could have any fun.  I absolutely hate saying good bye to him.  Ask him.  I like long goodbyes, but I always get in trouble.  I am proud of him though. This is his first "Annual Training".  First of a few that are in our future.  Of course at some point he will have 6 months of Advanced Individual Training in Mesa, Arizona at Fort Huachuca.  Sounds like a blast right?  Anyways, regardless, I love being an Army wife. I couldn't be more proud.

Long Distance

I should be used to my long distance relationship right?
Wrong.

I hate it. I hate everything about it.  When I renamed our blog "tales of long distance newly-wed life" I didn't realize how much I would have to say about it. I thought that it would just be another period of time in our relationship that we weren't together... same old, same old. There is a huge different though. In the past, William and I dictated our time apart. Either we were choosing to be in different cities for school, or we were choosing not to see each other when we were in the same city.  Well I bet you can guess the difference now... We aren't choosing this.  We want to be together. NOW. We were always able to say "later, we will be together" or "it's just for a few years".  But let's face it... this is William's job now.  And they are NOT forgiving.  He gets days off only to keep up with his army obligations and if they weren't at risk of getting in serious trouble, they probably wouldn't let him off for that.

We really can't keep this up forever.  Hopefully we will find some other opportunities soon.
I miss him so much.

i can't think of a title...

I'm going to work tomorrow to start observing.  I'm a lotta nervous. I have a TON to try and live up to. William may come home tomorrow. The well he is at keeps caving in or something. They may abandon it tonight. We'll see. I have a big bruise from trying to get a blood test done. I went to spinning. I love spinning. I have to remember that for when I'm not motivated to drive to uptown for it. I really also love being so close to downtown/uptown Dallas. Hopefully I'll get off early enough to go to spinning tomorrow. I bought some amazing hummus from Central Market. It's the best. Israeli variety apparently. I didn't know there were regional hummus flavors. It's magical regardless. I also made this concoction for lunch/dinner for a few days. It doesn't have a name. But it's a pasta salad I guess. It's delish. It contains: spiral pasta, fresh broccoli, ground turkey (cooked not fresh (: ), feta crumbles, and balsamic vinegar. Shake shake shake and voila! Yumminess.

Okay I'm pretty tired. Off to bed for my first day as a grownup tomorrow.

Why only have one job when you can have two!

I'm the proud new employee of TWO companies.  Count them, one, two!

I will be working part time for a pediatric home health agency and a private practice in Dallas.

The pediatric home health agency is Care Options for Kids (where my sister-in-law, Amy, worked).  They have been amazingly flexible with me and the pay is wonderful! My supervisor is an experienced clinician who owns a private practice as well as working for Care Options, so I feel like she will be a good resource.

The private practice is Bliss Speech and Hearing Services.  Basically, Bliss is my dream job.  But right now I am going to start full time with the potential of moving up to full time by January. They do all types of therapy but the owner Brenda and two of her other therapists specialize in Auditory-Verbal Therapy.  I will get a chance to observe as much as I want and also to be supervised in AVT! Oh and they'll pay me too!

I'm so excited! I literally get the best of both worlds.  I honestly NEVER thought that I'd being doing my CFY like this... but here I am... doing it like this.


So cheers to keeping an open mind and staying positive. Can't wait to start working!

Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend went quite well this year!

It was definitely different, because normally I spend it at the bay, but it still turned out well.

Friday William cooked steak and we hung out at home (okay we left to go get Sonic Blasts!).  Saturday William went and got Starbucks around 8:30 for us.  Then we went to Sangria for some brunch and of course some sangria. We were tired of staying home so we headed to the outlets in Allen.  We wandered around for a few hours.  I bought a super cute dress and short sleeved sweater, musts for this 100 degree weather we are already having. We went home so William could take his meds.  Then we packed up Lucy and headed for the dog park around 5.  It was still hot as heck and William and I spent most of the time we were there trying to pry Lucy out from under one of the picnic tables.  She just layed on or under them most of the time we were there... totally defeating the purpose.  We decided to get some good ol' pizza for dinner. We spent the evenings watching Deadliest Catch reruns!

Sunday we slept in realllllly late on accident.  We got up and cooked some delicious chicken for lunch. Then we went to Sonic to get William's first soda in a week.  He just couldn't wait any longer. We headed home and got ready for my sorority sister, Erica's wedding. We made a late night stop after the wedding at Cafe Brazil which was delicious!

Monday I hung out most of the day and then went to listen to the Dallas Symphony and watch fireworks! So fun!
