Child's response: You put it on your ketchup to make it taste better.
Email conversation between parents and I.
Me: Bobby is doing great. If we keep working on his speech at home and at school he will be done in no time. Did you see the homework I sent home?
Parent: I asked Bobby about the homework. He said he memorized the list of words and has been saying it to himself in his head. How does this help him learn to say them better?
Me: It doesn't. I'll send you a new list through email on Monday... make him say them... out loud.

Me: Pretend we were playing a game, and you lost. What is a good way to respond when the other person says that they win?
Child: Ummm... In order to tell you what I would say, I'm going to have to go get a game out and play it with you.
Me: No, you can just pretend. Here I'll start.... Oh look, I won the game!
Child: I can't pretend to lose, that's worse than it happening in real life.
After walking in to a class to pick up a child with Asperger's and take him to speech... he was in time out when I walked in:
Me: Why are you in time out?
Child: Ms. Short said I could play the math game by myself, but Ms. M (student teacher) would't let me, so I threw a fit.
Me: Well did Ms. M give you a reason that you couldn't play by yourself?
Child: Yes, she said that we didn't have enough cards for me to play by myself, but I don't care, I want to play by myself.
Me: How are you going to play by yourself if she doesn't have any cards to give you?
Child: Oh. Fine. I'll just sit in time out.
